Coffee Time Without Upsetting My Stomach

I am not sure exactly when I started to love coffee. Walaupun bukan coffee addict, tapi dalam sehari saya pasti nyari kopi paling tidak satu gelas. Dulu, awal-awal saya mulai menikmati kopi, setelah itu pasti sakit perut. Apparently, my stomach is not into coffee as much as my tounge does.

Saya bukan penderita maag, tapi sepertinya kondisi perut saya memang lumayan “asam”(padahal suka nya sama yang asam-asam seperti jeruk, lemon dll :p). Sempat diberitahu teman, kalau mungkin perut saya nggak kuat sama kafein, jadi sebaiknya jangan konsumsi kafein. Tapi saya nya aja yang bandel. Masa sih jadi nggak boleh minum kopi sama sekali? Emang nggak bisa diakalin?

Oh yes ternyata bisa kok saya akalin. Ini menurut pengalaman saya sendiri sih dan so far perut saya aman-aman aja “ngopi” dengan cara berikut:

Not Drinking My Coffee in An Empty Stomach

Jadi nggak ada ceritanya saya sarapan pagi pakai kopi seperti kebanyakan orang. Fix cari penyakit itu sih kalau saya. Asupan kafein saya di pagi hari cukup dengan segelas teh aja.

Bahkan akhir-akhir ini saya mulai bikin rules sendiri, “no coffee before 10 AM”. Kenapa jam 10? Karena sepertinya di jam-jam segitu perut saya udah mulai “friendly” dikasih apapun juga hehe.

Choose Decaf or Half Decaf if Available

I am so happy to know that the decaf version is also available for instant coffee, and easily bought in any supermarket here. Sedangkan sepertinya di Indonesia, kopi instan belum ada yang versi decaf. Jadi minum kopi decaf cuma bisa pas ngopi di kafe aja deh.

I Add Milk/Chocolate to My Coffee

Saya agak menghindari kopi hitam pure. Kalau nggak kepepet banget , as if, sangat ngantuk tapi harus begadang dan nggak ada pilihan lain, baru deh mau. Selain kurang asik, kopi hitam kok kayaknya lebih “nendang” di saya. Jadi kadang-kadang malah bikin deg-degan banget. Seringnya sih ditambah susu/coklat.

Akhir-akhir ini, saya lagi ketagihan Trung Nguyen G7 Gourmet Coffeemix 3in1. Pertama kali coba ini di Vietnam dan ketagihan. Padahal pas di Vietnam sendiri, saya agak nggak kuat minum black drip coffee nya. Tapi kalo kopi instan yang ini sih untungnya aman-aman aja perutnya. Serius ini enakk banget.

My Kind of Winter (and Autumn) Food

Beberapa hari belakangan, suhu di Brisbane pagi hari udah mulai belasan derajat. Siangnya, suhu naik lagi ke dua puluhan sekian dan matahari super generous. Tapi anginnya sih tetep aja dingin buat warga tropis kayak saya. Apalagi malemnya turun lagi suhunya ke belasan derajat. Belum masuk winter sih, tapi Brisbane udah termasuk dingin buat saya.

Autumn-winter attires are starting to come out one by one. Sweater, warm socks, long johns, thick duvet, you name it. Every morning, I’m starting to struggle coming out from the blanket or finishing the warm water shower hehe.

For my cooking duty, I think I should start switching my menu to the warm comfort food, or so I called as winter food 🙂

5 Simplest Japanese Dishes – Inspired by Shinya Shokudo

Here am I again. Talking about Shinya Shokudo series again.

Among all dishes in Shinya Shokudo, there are five simplest dishes, that I know everyone is definitely can make this. Even my “student” husband who temporarily has to cook his own food 😀

I’ve watched the all three seasons plus the movie, and I’m taking notes of every dish that I think pretty simple and tasty. How the master made it, the steps and even the tips from the ending of the episodes. However, since Shinya Shokudo is really not a cooking show, some episodes did not reveal the complete recipe. That is why I googled them again and save it for later.

For those who’s curious much but don’t have time to watch, I’ll share some blog links which cover those dish recipes. Simply click on the image to get the recipe.

1. (Canned) Tuna Mayo Bowl : Season 2 Episode 5

A delicious dish made from canned goods ! My husband will definitely love this.  It is basically similar with the fillings of onigiri. I found this blog who share the detailed recipe of this dish, which also inspired by Shinya Shokudo.

2. Potato Salad: Season 1, Episode 4

3. Egg Sandwich: Season 1, Episode 7

Perfect for breakfast or even as a picnic food. I personally will add some greens like lettuce in it. Just to make it more crunchy and healthy as well.

4. Katsudon : Season 1, Episode 6

One of my favorites Japanese food. I’ve made it several times and still not bored with it.

5. Butter Rice: Season 1, Episode 5

The simplest dish ever that I don’t know if it really is a dish. It only needs 3 ingredients: butter, rice and shoyu (soy sauce). It is that simple that I don’t need to find the complete recipe. They already reveal it all in the show.

Shinya Shokudo version:  Add the butter to the hot rice. To melt it, put some rice on the top of butter. Then, be patiently waiting until all the butter is melted. After that, add a bit of shoyu (soy sauce) on it. Mix it well.

I made butter rice few times in a different way. I usually mix the washed uncooked rice with butter and chopped onion in the pan first, before cook it properly in the rice cooker. But the simplest one also looks tasty and worth to try.

Super Easy Pasta Recipe for Sunday Supper

Happy weekend..

Biasanya kalau weekend gini, saya suka males masak yang aneh-aneh. Pinginnya yang nggak ribet. Kebetulan saya dan si-mas sama-sama suka banget pasta. Jadi hampir setiap weekend masak pasta.

One Pan Tomato Basil Pasta

Bahannya gampang banget, cuma herbs, tomat dan basil. Kalo males bikin tomato paste sendiri, tinggal beli yang kalengan. Kalau basil fresh nya susah, tinggal beli yang kering 🙂

Italian Sausage Rigatoni

Alternatif kalo bosen sama spaghetti/fettucini, bisa cobain pake rigatoni. Cuma karena bentuknya yang besar, jadi waktu merebusnya agak sedikit lebih lama dari spaghetti/fettucini. Rigatoni juga enakkk kalo dipanggang.

Parmesan Garlic Spaghetti

Ini bener-bener juara gampangnya. Cuma butuh 5 bahan aja : Spaghetti, butter, garlic, parmesan cheese, sama black pepper. Untuk optiobal, bisa tambah fresh parsley atau dried parsley

Kalo yang ini special doyanan si-mas : Mergeuz aka sosis kambing 😀 Berhubung mergeuz udah enak jadi diapain aja juga enak siih. Btw, mergeuz kayaknya emang susah cari di Indo. Diganti dengan sosis biasa juga enak harusnya
